I think its a good stepping stone to the full :)  Good Luck to you this weekend in Lake Placcid.  And, congrats on 4 ironmans already!  that&#039;s impressive.  you&#039;ve made quite the change with your life and health.....truly inspiring.  Thanks for sharing.</description>

When I was 50, (now 58) I had a friend die from a heart attack and another had quadruple bypass.  I didn&#039;t want to have my life like that.  I had several times seen the Ironman on TV, and thought to myself, &quot;If I tried I could do that.&quot;  I looked around on the internet and found a race 11 months out.  I asked the lady in the fitness center by the factory where I worked if I she thought I could lose the 30+ lbs and get in good enough shape to do the race.  I had to learn how to swim, bike and run...not how to basically do them, but to do them in a way that didn&#039;t tear up my body over 140.6 miles.  The techniques for each discipline are really different.   She looked at me, and matter-of-factly said, &quot;Sure you can.&quot;  
I&#039;ve done 4 since then, and will do Lake Placcid this next Sunday.  You are blessed with a wonderful level of fitness, and access to one of the top trainers in the U.S., Ben Greenfield.  Why would you limit yourself to a half?  Sign up for Ironman Lake Placid the day after it is run this year!</description>
