    hmmm…based on your 70.3 tri results (which were AWESOME, especially considering the heat), I’d say you’re going to blow the 3:26 away this year! My suggested goal for you: 3:05. I can’t wait to hear what goal you decide on.

  2. Jill

    WOW…Julie, you must think I have Kenyan blood in me :)

  3. Paul

    I was going to mention 3:10 then at least we can line up together in Boston

  4. Amy

    I’ll go with 3:18

    how about 4 % or just breaking 3:17:46, and i will challenge to up my distance (within time constraints) to go from 7k/4.3mi to 9.11miles on the Freedom Run in 24 days, 9-11-10 at 9:11am, hope its cool that day !

    wow, I have to admit these numbers are coming in A LOT faster than what I had in mind!

    You will be amazed at how flat Chicago is … the largest “hill” is a ramp over the interstate. You may run into some headwinds but effective drafting can help with that. I am predicting at least a 10 minute improvement in your pr for a 3:16 – and that might be selling you short as well as you have training.

  9. Scott

    Well, the qualifying time for the Olympic Trials is 2:49. You might as well aim high! Realisticly I think you should shoot for 3:19. Based on your Tacoma Narrows half time you should be able to break 3:14, but give yourself a little cushion for unexpected weather conditions. Good Luck!

    @Scott: I LIKE your suggestion!

  11. Julie

    Hey, aim high, right? You mean you to tell me that you’re NOT Kenyan ;-)

    You ran the half marathon at the end of a triathlon at the same pace as your marathon PR, and in scorching heat. If you get a nice day in Chicago (and we’ve all seen the wackiness in Chicago weather over the past few years on marathon day so that’s a BIG if), you might just surprise yourself. So maybe 3:05 is a bit too optimistic, but I think some of other suggestions (e.g. 3:12–3:14) are not far-fetched!

  12. 3:19. 3:15 if the weather is setting up perfectly.
